Kingman Spyder Fenix Paintball Gun Review

The stylish-looking Kingman Spyder Fenix has been a best seller for Kingman since it was released in 2012 (the ACT version).

While this marker certainly looks great, there is a lot more about it than just good looks. It is a great entry-level electronic gun and has some really solid features to it.

Not only is the Spyder Fenix easy to use, but it can also enhance your play too.

This current version of the Kingman Spyder Fenix is about 25% lighter than the previous model, and 15% shorter.

This in itself makes for much easier handling and improved accuracy.

It also requires minimal setup time, so you do not have to mess around with settings and complicated features before you start, you can start playing almost out of the box each time you use it.

Specifications for the Kingman Spyder Fenix

Electronic paintball guns offer faster and more consistent releasing of the paintballs.

To operate an electronic paintball gun, you will, of course, have to have a battery to power it.

This does have its downside too, as it will mean that you will need to carry a spare in case your battery dies in the middle of a game.

But there are more benefits than downsides when using electronic guns, and the Kingman Spyder Fenix has some really good electronic features attached to it.

The electronic trigger frame on the Spyder Fenix will enable you to change from semi-auto to ramping quickly and efficiently, which is the kind of performance and versatility you want while out on the field.

The excellent Break Beam Eye system is used as an anti-chop system. It will stop the marker from firing until a ball is positioned correctly in the chamber.

It is very effective in its ability to prevent stop the paintballs from chopping, thus keeping it in good working order and cleaner as well.

One of the important things to look out for when deciding on a paintball gun is the ability to be able to maintain and clean it effectively.

The Kingman Spyder Fenix has addressed this well, and the marker uses a top-cocking quick strip bolt and a rear plug that is tool-free to ensure that basic maintenance can be applied in a matter of minutes.

Eko valve system

One of the main features of the Spyder Fenix is the Eko valve system technology it uses.

This technology is exclusive to Spyder markers, and it enables the marker to fire up to 1,600 shots from a 20oz C02 tank, rather than the normal 800 shots from a regular tank.

This works by using ‘synergy engineering’ and produces a low-pressure dual air source system that allows for the extra capacity without any loss of power.

Performance and Reliability

Two things that you want from your marker when you are on the field are power and reliability.

The Kingman Spyder Fenix delivers on both fronts. The LEAP circuit board on the marker keeps features such as the Break Beam Eye working perfectly, so the marker runs to its optimal levels at all times.

The 9V premium alkaline battery will give you the performance you want from it too, but you should be aware that the charge does not last for that long.

The marker is also compatible with a 9.6V rechargeable battery if you wanted to go this route too, or you should get a spare battery to ensure you get no downtime while you are out on the field.

Additional information on the Spyder Fenix

You will notice that the grip on the Spyder Fenix is fairly thick, and while not uncomfortable it may not be ideally suited if you have smaller hands.

When this thicker grip design does do though, is provide more stability with the marker so you get more accuracy with it.

This marker is an entry-level model, but it does have a lot of really solid features.

And the beauty is that they are all very easy to use, so if you are completely new to this marker, or paintballing in general then you will quickly learn your way around the Spyder Fenix, and how to program and use all of the features it contains.

Overall the Kingman Spyder Fenix runs really well and delivers exceptional performance.

It is one of the best markers in this price range, and for the beginner to intermediate, you can certainly have a lot of fun with this model.
